The General Union of Algerian Traders and Artisans praised the outcomes of the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Saifi Gharib. In a statement released on Saturday, the union emphasized that this important meeting reflects the state’s sincere political will to establish responsible dialogue and strengthen trust between state institutions and representatives of social partners.
The statement added that the meeting represented a highly significant political and institutional milestone, during which the Prime Minister announced the launch of genuine joint workshops. These workshops, governed by a clear timeline, aim to address professional and social concerns, particularly in the trade, transport, and services sectors, to ensure national market stability and strengthen economic and social balances.
With the holy month of Ramadan approaching, the union praised the government’s proactive approach in preparing for this period by ensuring the availability of essential consumer goods, regulating supply mechanisms, and working to protect citizens’ purchasing power. It confirmed the involvement of traders, artisans, and transport professionals in ensuring the success of these efforts with a spirit of responsibility and commitment.
The union also renewed its commitment to continuing open workshops aimed at establishing commercial ethics, promoting a culture of integrity and transparency, and spreading professional awareness. This is intended to ensure a fair balance between market requirements and consumer rights, contributing to a healthy and stable economic environment.
The statement further revealed that the Prime Minister confirmed these sectors receive special monitoring and direct attention from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, given their strategic position in the national system and their pivotal role in enhancing economic security and regulating the national market.
Consequently, the General Union of Algerian Traders and Artisans, along with the transport sector unions under its umbrella and other partner unions, reaffirmed their full and permanent readiness for positive and responsible engagement in every serious reform effort based on dialogue, integration, and partnership. This serves the interests of professionals, enhances mutual trust, and maintains market stability and citizens’ purchasing power, especially during sensitive periods, most notably the holy month of Ramadan.
