Trade directorates across six central provinces have mobilized more than 400 inspection teams to ensure the availability of goods, particularly consumer staples, during the month of Ramadan, according to the Regional Directorate of Trade for the Blida region on Monday.
Mohamed Salami, the acting head of the Regional Directorate of Trade for the central region, stated that as part of the preparations for Ramadan, the body has deployed 429 inspection teams comprising 1,299 agents across six provinces: Blida, Tizi Ouzou, Medea, Ain Defla, Bouira, and Djelfa.
The official noted that these teams will intensify their daily visits to wholesale and retail markets, as well as neighborhood markets, to ensure the availability of various food items at competitive prices.
The inspection teams will also monitor the distribution channels of basic materials to ensure market supply and price stability, aiming to protect the purchasing power of citizens.
In this regard, Mohamed Hadj Mehdi, head of the consumer protection and fraud suppression department at the Blida Trade Directorate, revealed that a control program has been established for the duration of Ramadan to ensure food availability in wholesale and retail markets, including ten neighborhood markets opened for the religious occasion.
Hakim Touati, director of the “Ismailia” Industrial and Commercial Complex, part of the public food industry group “Agrodive,” confirmed the provision of sufficient quantities of food products needed by consumers through four points of sale in Blida, as well as neighborhood markets in Blida and Tipaza.
He added that the group has mobilized all its human and material resources to ensure the transport and distribution of food products to both points of sale and neighborhood markets, which see a high turnout of citizens.
