The awards ceremony for the fifth edition of the National Environmental Journalism Competition was held on Monday evening at the “El Djazaïr” Hotel in the capital.
Journalists Chahrazad Walid Azzouz and Messaouda Bakaria were awarded first prize in the audiovisual category for their report titled “Climate Change in Algeria: From Challenge to Adaptation.”
In the written press category, journalist Nadia Slimani won first prize for her article titled “Circular Economy in Algeria… Will Electronic Waste Succeed in Winning the Bet?”
In the radio category, journalist Reda Menassel secured first place for a piece titled “Bumblebee Rearing.”
For electronic press, journalist Abdelouahab Bouderbala won first place for his report “Carbon Footprint… Betting on Employing Artificial Intelligence in Energy to Close the Gap.” In the same category, journalist Majda Zouine also took first place for her topic “How Female Farmers Pay the Price of Fires in Algeria.”
The Minister of Communication, Zouhir Bouamama, oversaw the ceremony, which honors the best media content focused on environmental respect and nature conservation in Algeria.
