The Ministry of Justice announced on Sunday the opening of the national competition for admission to training to obtain the Certificate of Professional Competence for the Legal Profession (CAPA) for the 2026 session. This competition serves as the primary gateway for law school graduates wishing to join the legal profession, with written examinations scheduled for April 11 and 12.
The Ministry has established a precise timeline for the process, which includes three main stages. Initial registration will take place exclusively through the Ministry of Justice website (https://concours.mjustice.dz) from February 1 to February 12, 2026. The submission of physical files will then begin from February 15 until March 5, 2026, at the universities of Batna 1, Bejaia, Biskra, Blida 02, Tlemcen, Tizi Ouzou, Algiers 1, Setif 2, Sidi Bel Abbes, Annaba, Constantine 1, M’Sila, Ouargla, Oran, and Bordj Bou Arreridj.
To facilitate the process for candidates in remote areas, specific annexes have been designated to receive files in southern and highland provinces, such as Adrar, Tamanrasset, Tindouf, and Illizi, to reduce the burden of travel for applicants.
The competition is open to Algerian citizens holding a Bachelor’s degree in Law (or an equivalent degree) who enjoy their civil and political rights. Candidates must have a clean criminal record free of any dishonorable judgments and possess the necessary physical and mental fitness required for the demanding legal profession.
Candidates are required to pay a participation fee of 6,000 DZD into the designated bank account for the lawyers’ training school at the National Bank of Algeria. Regarding the competition process, it will include written admission tests on April 11 and 12, followed by a final oral exam for those who pass the written stage, to be held 20 days after the announcement of results. The oral exam will focus on legal culture and the ability to express and persuade.
