Fateh Boutbig, head of the El Moustakbal Front party, stated that the draft law on political parties introduces a series of updates that establish the rule of law and represent an opportunity to strengthen the political class.
In a statement made on the sidelines of the National Municipality Day celebrations, Boutbig addressed the amendment regarding the two-term limit for party leaders. He explained that El Moustakbal Front, within its internal regulations, defines electoral terms from a perspective of envisioning a strong political future, aiming to build a party that meets the aspirations of Algerians.
Boutbig noted that, in his view, a political personality is not tied to the number of electoral terms, emphasizing that the party believes in the necessity of establishing high political traditions that guarantee freedom of decision for party members.
He added that the issue of term limits falls within constitutional thought that emerged as part of the political reform process, aiming to inject new blood so that political parties can be more powerful.
The speaker also pointed out that term limits are applied in other constitutional institutions, such as both chambers of Parliament and the Presidency of the Republic. This aims to renew political work without undermining the value or status of political figures; on the contrary, it enhances the stability and strength of parties.
Regarding the Municipal and Wilaya Law, the head of El Moustakbal Front highlighted that this text involved the participation of various actors, including parties and stakeholders, under the supervision of the President of the Republic, to produce a law that responds to the aspirations of local communities.
Boutbig expressed his hope that the draft law would be scheduled by the President of the Republic and referred by the government to both chambers of Parliament for approval during the current term, ensuring a strong start for local communities in the next term.
Regarding the upcoming legislative elections, the official confirmed that El Moustakbal Front is fully prepared for this important milestone by engaging with citizens, activating periodic meetings, continuous mobilization, proposing constructive ideas, and attempting to attract the public toward political life and then toward elections.
He also stated that El Moustakbal Front, which ranked third nationally in previous elections, aspires to achieve advanced positions in the upcoming elections.
