President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune addressed the participants of the International Exhibition of Mines, Quarries, and Hydrocarbons “SEMICA Chad 2026.” In his speech, delivered by the Minister of State and Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, President Tebboune emphasized that Algeria’s participation as the guest of honor reflects its firm commitment to supporting African cooperation and strengthening South-South partnerships, based on the conviction that Africa’s future is built by its own people and through the integration of its capabilities and resources.
The President explained that the African continent is rich in vast natural resources, particularly in the fields of hydrocarbons and strategic minerals. However, he noted that the real challenge lies in the effective management and valuation of these resources, transforming them into a genuine lever for sustainable economic and social development, creating added value and job opportunities to serve the aspirations of African peoples.
He also stressed the necessity of establishing good governance in the extractive industries sector, based on transparency, the localization of knowledge, technology transfer, respect for environmental standards, and the enhancement of local content, while encouraging responsible investments and balanced partnerships that achieve mutual benefit.
In this context, the President’s speech highlighted the Algerian experience in the fields of hydrocarbons and mining, which is based on national control over resources, the development of value chains, and human capacity building. He affirmed Algeria’s readiness to share its expertise with brotherly African countries, especially in the areas of exploration, production, processing, training, and research and development.
President Tebboune affirmed that Algeria places African cooperation at the heart of its foreign policy and attaches special importance to regional structural projects that enhance economic integration, support energy security, and contribute to achieving common development. He renewed Algeria’s commitment to supporting African efforts aimed at building a strong, solidary, and sustainable continental economy.
Algeria’s participation in the “SEMICA Chad 2026” exhibition falls within this orientation, representing an opportunity to strengthen dialogue between actors in the mining and hydrocarbons sector, explore partnership and investment opportunities, and exchange expertise, thereby contributing to the development process in the Republic of Chad and the African continent in general.
