The 15th edition of the “Taj al-Qur’an” competition commenced on Friday evening at the “Abdelatif Rahal” International Conference Center in Algiers, with the participation of 18 contestants from various provinces across the country.
The opening ceremony of this religious competition, launched annually by Algerian Television and implemented by the Holy Qur’an Channel, was attended by the Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Youcef Belmehdi, and the Rector of the Great Mosque of Algiers, Sheikh Mohamed Mamoun Al-Kacimi Al-Hassani.
On this occasion, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments stated in a press release that the “Taj al-Qur’an” program has succeeded over 15 years in establishing a prestigious position among the most prominent Qur’anic programs in Algeria.
Belmehdi noted that the path to success is built gradually, which has been achieved for this competitive program that has transitioned from a national character to an international presence. He recalled the experience of the Algeria International Prize for the Holy Qur’an Memorization and Recitation, which began as a national prize before taking on an international dimension.
By adding an international dimension, the program aims to expand its reach and increase its followers in Arab and Islamic countries and across the world, while contributing to promoting Algeria’s image and the values of moderation, tolerance, and love upon which its religious reference is based.
It is noteworthy that the competition’s qualifiers began several weeks ago, resulting in the selection of 9 female and 9 male contestants. The final ceremony of this competition will take place during the last week of the holy month of Ramadan.
