Discovery of a monetary treasure dating back to the Roman period

The National Gendarmerie, in coordination with the competent bodies of the Ministry of Culture and Arts, seized a monetary treasure comprising approximately 10,200 bronze coins. Preliminary data indicates that they date back to the Roman period (4th century AD), along with three other cultural properties that are still undergoing scientific study and identification.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Culture, this security operation falls within the context of the national policy aimed at preserving cultural property and protecting it from all forms of infringement or illicit trafficking, reflecting the level of vigilance and integration between various state institutions.

The Minister of Culture and Arts expressed her deep thanks and appreciation to the Research Division of the National Gendarmerie in the province of Ain Defla for the high professionalism and constant readiness they demonstrated, and the pivotal role they play in protecting the national cultural heritage.

The Ministry of Culture and Arts also renewed its firm commitment to continuing its efforts aimed at preserving and valuing the national cultural heritage, and strengthening coordination and cooperation mechanisms with various security agencies, in a way that serves the supreme interest of the country and preserves the national memory for future generations.
