The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, Yacine Oualid, laid the foundation stone on Saturday for a strategic grain storage silo project located 15 km north of El Meniaa.
According to a statement from the province, this project is one of the largest the region has received, with an estimated cost of 885 billion centimes and a completion period of 29 months.
The project will enable the storage of more than one million quintals of grain and will provide over 300 temporary jobs during the construction phase, as well as approximately 300 permanent positions once the facility enters service.
Additional advantages of the project include the possibility of establishing a mill and a pasta factory to accompany the silo.
In the same context, the Minister inaugurated a local intermediate grain storage center in El Meniaa. The provincial program includes the construction of 11 local storage centers across the province with a total capacity of 5,000 tons.
