Reda Belhadj, Director General of the Sonarem Group, provided detailed explanations on Friday to a ministerial delegation visiting Tindouf regarding the operations of the Gara Djebilet mine. He highlighted the readiness of technical and logistical facilities and equipment to ensure the launch of the first batches of iron ore according to the highest standards.
Belhadj accompanied the ministerial delegation as part of final preparations for the Bechar-Tindouf mining railway line to enter service in the coming days. This strategic project represents a qualitative leap in rail transport and the development of national mining resources.
The Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, along with the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Abdelkader Kadi, the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Said Sayoud, the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Houria Meddahi, and the Secretary of State to the Minister of Hydrocarbons in charge of Mines, Karima Bakir Tafer, conducted a comprehensive field inspection of the Gara Djebilet mine. The visit aimed to review the progress and ensure the operational readiness of facilities and equipment for the first shipment of iron ore.
This visit reflects the commitment of the high authorities to the close field monitoring of strategic projects, which form the core of the national strategy for valuing mining resources. These efforts aim to strengthen rail transport infrastructure and establish the foundations for sustainable economic development in the country’s southwest, in line with the state’s vision to build a diverse, strong, and sustainable national economy.
