Strict Instructions to Secure Night Transport and Commodity Availability During Ramadan

The Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Saïd Saayoud, chaired a coordination meeting via video conference on Sunday afternoon with regional governors, in the presence of district heads and executive directors.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior, the meeting’s agenda focused on preparations for the holy month of Ramadan, monitoring the consumption of 2025 financial allocations—specifically the social and economic development support program for municipalities and the Local Government Guarantee and Solidarity Fund—and a presentation on the 2026 financial allocations.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister emphasized the need to ensure the availability of food products, particularly essential goods, and to intensify market monitoring. He highlighted the importance of the vigilance cells established at the provincial level in identifying and reporting any shortages promptly. He also stressed the necessity of ensuring transport availability at all times, especially during the night, with the issuance of exceptional permits when required.

Furthermore, the Minister underscored the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of public spaces and informing citizens in advance of any scheduled gas, water, or electricity outages. He insisted on accurately specifying the duration of these outages and adhering to the announced timelines.

Regarding the evaluation of 2025 financial allocations, the Minister reviewed a detailed presentation by the Director General of Local Authorities on the consumption rates of local governments during the year. Following this, the Minister instructed governors to oversee the completion of specific programs for each province and to monitor their implementation within the set deadlines.
