Launch of the Final Phase of the National Polio Vaccination Campaign

The Ministry of Health has announced the launch of the third phase of the national polio vaccination campaign, running from January 25 to January 31. This phase involves a supplementary dose using the Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine (IPV).

According to the ministry’s statement, this campaign is part of the national strategy for health prevention and the strengthening of individual and collective immunity among children. This stage continues efforts to consolidate the protection previously acquired through the oral vaccine and to prevent severe forms of polio, in line with Algeria’s public health commitments and approved vaccination programs.

The Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine (IPV) has been part of the national routine vaccination program since 2015. It is characterized by a high level of safety and efficacy, with almost no side effects.

The Ministry of Health confirmed the continued mobilization of various medical and paramedical teams, the deployment of necessary human and logistical resources, and coordination with local actors to ensure the success of this phase under the best organizational and health conditions.

The ministry also renewed its call to all parents to take their children to the relevant health institutions for vaccination during the specified period to safeguard children’s health, enhance collective immunity, and ensure the protection of society from this disease.
