Installation of the National Council for Agricultural Mechanization

Prime Minister Saifi Gharib inaugurated the National Council for Agricultural Mechanization on Saturday evening, in implementation of instructions issued by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office, this council is part of efforts to modernize the agricultural sector and enhance its production capacities by working to provide agricultural equipment for agricultural investments.

The council is composed of representatives from the relevant sectors, in addition to representatives of professional associations of farmers and local economic operators producing agricultural equipment.

In this regard, the Prime Minister gave instructions to prepare an action plan for this council, including a complete inventory of farmers’ needs related to agricultural equipment, taking into account the specificity of each agricultural branch, while ensuring the identification of priority needs related to the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 agricultural seasons to ensure their success.

The Prime Minister also stressed that the action plan should include the necessary measures to strengthen and diversify the local production of agricultural equipment to meet the expressed needs, according to the standards for using this equipment in accordance with the characteristics of each agricultural region.

On the other hand, the council will handle concerns raised in the field of strengthening national capacities for the maintenance of agricultural equipment and the provision of spare parts, through the establishment and development of a national network for the maintenance of agricultural equipment, ensuring efficiency in the use of the national fleet of agricultural equipment.

Finally, this council will hold periodic meetings to evaluate the extent of the implementation of the action plan in order to effectively and quickly address the needs identified in the field of agricultural mechanization.
