The National Gendarmerie in Oum El Bouaghi has dismantled a dangerous national criminal network involved in the trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances, seizing a significant quantity of hallucinogenic pills totaling 117,000 capsules. According to a statement from the National Gendarmerie, the operation followed information obtained by the Ain M’lila territorial battalion regarding a criminal network transporting a shipment of psychotropic substances from a southern province.
Based on this information, a special action plan was devised to disrupt the network’s activities. After monitoring and securing the area, a truck loaded with hay bales was intercepted. A thorough search revealed a large quantity of psychotropic substances hidden in large plastic bags concealed within the hay bales to evade security checks. The driver was arrested, and the truck was taken to the unit’s headquarters.
Continuing the investigation and utilizing special investigative techniques, the team identified several locations used as hideouts and determined the identities of the network members. A plan was then established to apprehend all individuals involved.
Following the completion of legal procedures in coordination with the competent public prosecutor’s office, jurisdiction was extended to several provinces. In coordination with the Central Service for Combating Illicit Trafficking in Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, raids were conducted on the identified locations, resulting in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of a motorcycle and two passenger vehicles used by the network.
The operation resulted in the dismantling of a dangerous national criminal network consisting of seven individuals, four of whom are in custody while three remain at large. Authorities seized 117,000 capsules of Pregabalin 300 mg, a truck, two passenger cars, a motorcycle, a quantity of drugs, and mobile phones. After completing all legal procedures, the suspects will be presented before the competent judicial authorities.
