Joint detachments of the People’s National Army, in coordination with various security services during operations across military regions, arrested 49 drug traffickers and foiled attempts to smuggle 2 quintals and 89 kilograms of treated hashish across the border with Morocco.
According to the operational report of the People’s National Army for the period from February 18 to 24, 2026, 49.7 kilograms of cocaine and 582,961 hallucinogenic pills were seized.
Additionally, army detachments arrested 334 individuals and seized 33 vehicles, 150 power generators, 102 pressure hammers, and two metal detectors, along with quantities of raw gold ore and stones, and equipment used in illegal gold mining operations.
Twenty-one other individuals were arrested, and a machine gun, a hunting rifle, 18,147 liters of fuel, 366 quintals of tobacco, and 55 tons of food items intended for smuggling were seized during separate operations.
Coast Guard units also foiled illegal migration attempts and rescued 254 people aboard homemade boats. Furthermore, 280 illegal migrants of various nationalities were arrested across the national territory.
