Arkab Received by President of the Republic of Niger

Minister of State, Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, was received on Monday by the President of the Republic of Niger and Head of State, General Abdourahamane Tiani. According to a ministry statement, the meeting was attended on the Nigerien side by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad, the Minister of Justice, and the Minister of Petroleum. The Algerian delegation included the CEO of Sonatrach, Noureddine Daoudi, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Algerian Embassy in Niger, and several ministry officials.

During the meeting, the Minister of State conveyed fraternal greetings from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to the Nigerien President, highlighting his commitment to strengthening the fraternal bonds between the two nations and deepening bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

For his part, the President of Niger requested the Minister of State to convey his greetings and high regard to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He reaffirmed his country’s determination to enhance bilateral cooperation with Algeria in all fields and to work towards supporting African cooperation and the South-South partnership.

The President of Niger emphasized the strength of the historical friendship between his country and Algeria, rooted in values of trust, solidarity, and mutual support derived from African principles of unity and solidarity among the continent’s peoples.

In this context, the President of Niger praised Algerian expertise, particularly in the oil and gas industries, expressing his country’s desire to benefit from Algeria’s experience, specifically regarding Sonatrach’s exploration and research project in the Kafra oil field.

The President of Niger also highlighted the importance of the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project, commending Algeria’s efforts toward its implementation due to its pivotal role in supporting the socio-economic development of transit countries.
