Prime Minister Saifi Gherib, representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, presided over a ceremony on Sunday evening honoring several Algerian women who have distinguished themselves through outstanding contributions in various fields, on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Held under the theme “Algerian Women: Excellence and Leadership,” the ceremony took place under the high patronage of the President of the Republic. It was attended by the Minister of National Solidarity, Family, and Women’s Issues, Soraya Mouloudji, along with several government members, senior state officials, Mujahidat, representatives of women’s and family associations, and prominent figures from the arts and sports sectors.
During the event, a group of creative and distinguished Algerian women were honored in multiple fields, including science, law, arts, media, and sports, as well as traditional crafts. This recognition was in appreciation of their qualitative contributions to society and their role in strengthening the status of Algerian women.
The list of honorees included Karima Seddiki, a dean at the Ministry of National Defense; Rachida Kebsi, a chief inspector at the General Directorate of Customs; and Fatma Zohra Ben Braham, a lawyer and daughter of a martyr. Also honored were Nawal Sinaoui, a farmer active in organic agriculture and medicinal plants; Hassiba Tali Maamar, a medical microbiology specialist, hospital professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, and head of the bacteriology department at the Pasteur Institute; and Hafida Rezig, a journalist at Algerian Television.
The honors also extended to Sabrina Kechir, a mining engineer responsible for blasting operations at the Gara Djebilet project; Seddika Amamri, an artisan specializing in Babar carpets and a recipient of national and international awards; Linda Hamri, a nationally and internationally decorated long jump champion; and Ichrak Chaib, a boxing champion. Additionally, Aicha Beldjilali was recognized for her innovations in care for the elderly and people with special needs, while the veteran theater artist Fadhila Bouhena Hechmaoui was also among those honored.
