During a board meeting held on Wednesday, Sonelgaz, the Algerian national electricity and gas company, decided to consolidate several of its subsidiaries. The move includes the merger of Electricity of Algeria into Sonelgaz – Electricity Production, Shams Company into Sonelgaz – Renewable Energies, and the Security and Protection of Electrical and Gas Installations Company into Sonelgaz – Services.

This decision is part of a comprehensive reorganization and restructuring process initiated by Sonelgaz since early 2022. The restructuring aims to rejuvenate management, smoothly and progressively, while protecting the social gains of workers and ensuring their career development. As a result of this reorganization, the number of subsidiary companies in Sonelgaz has officially been reduced from 34 to 11.

The celebration of this milestone was chaired by Mourad Adjal, CEO of Sonelgaz. The event was attended by representatives of worker unions and participation committees, along with the management staff of the conglomerate. The CEO commended the efforts of the social partner in ensuring a stable work environment within the Sonelgaz companies, as stated in the report.

The statement also highlighted Adjal’s gratitude to all employees for their achievements over the past two years, particularly in implementing the developmental programs of the President of the Republic. These include projects for connecting remote areas, agricultural investments, and industrial zones to the energy grid. Adjal reiterated his call for increased efforts to execute the state’s major strategic projects, representing a primary challenge for Sonelgaz.
