Officers from the Economic and Financial Crimes Unit of the Souk Ahras Provincial Security seized more than 10 tons of bananas intended for monopoly and speculation, while arresting two individuals involved in storing the goods without legal authorization.
According to a statement from the Souk Ahras Provincial Security services, the seizure of this quantity, estimated at 102 quintals and 60 kg, followed a surprise raid on a warehouse. The owner had been acquiring significant quantities of bananas and intentionally withholding them from the market to create a shortage and supply disruption, aiming to sell them at prices exceeding their actual value.
The two suspects were presented before the Public Prosecutor at the Souk Ahras Court.
