The Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-enterprises, in coordination with the Ministries of Irrigation and Higher Education and Scientific Research, has launched a national initiative calling for talents and owners of technological projects and solutions to contribute to the development of Algeria’s water sector. The initiative aims to enhance water security and address challenges, particularly those related to climate change.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-enterprises, the initiative seeks to collect information on innovative projects, identify national and international expertise, and establish a national database for water innovation. It also prepares for the launch of incubation and acceleration programs, field trials, and technological partnerships.
This process is expected to contribute to building a national innovation ecosystem in the water sector, developing local technological solutions, launching pilot projects, and creating cooperation opportunities between the public and private sectors.
The announcement highlights several priority areas, including reducing water leakage and waste, energy-efficient desalination, water reuse, smart irrigation, and sustainable agriculture. It also focuses on the use of artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things in water management, as well as solutions for climate change adaptation.
The call is addressed to innovative project holders, startups, micro-enterprises, incubators, business accelerators, university researchers, and specialists from the economic sector, as well as Algerian experts living abroad.
The Ministry invited all interested parties to register through the designated online questionnaire provided for the initiative.
