Senegalese player Sadio Mane has refused to return the Best Player award from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to CAF, amid reports that he has been stripped of the title and news that it will be handed to Moroccan star Brahim Diaz.
According to the Daily Star, Sadio Mane categorically rejected CAF’s decision after being asked to return the tournament’s Best Player award.
The newspaper confirmed that Sadio Mane informed those close to him that he would not return the award to the Confederation of African Football or hand it over to Brahim Diaz.
Notably, the CAF Appeals Committee previously decided to strip Senegal of the Africa Cup of Nations title and award it to Morocco, in a controversial decision described as an unprecedented scandal in the history of African and international football.
