National team coach Vladimir Petkovic spoke about the squad’s final preparations ahead of the friendly matches against Guatemala and Uruguay. During a press conference held on Thursday in Turin, Italy, on the eve of the match against Guatemala, Petkovic revealed his plans regarding the goalkeeping position.
He stated, “We plan to use two different goalkeepers in the next two matches, and the four goalkeepers currently with us have been performing well so far.”
He added, “The four goalkeepers possess high-level capabilities. I leave their specific training to the goalkeeping coach; in modern football, there is a specialized coach responsible for each area, but there is always a head coach.”
Petkovic also praised the new addition to the squad, Achraf Abada, noting that he requires more time to adapt. He said, “Abada is an important player who demonstrated good potential in the Arab Championship and with his club. I have observed in recent training sessions that he has the qualities to remain with the group, but he needs time to fully integrate.”
The national coach emphasized that the player pool is very broad, and performance on the pitch will ultimately determine which players will represent the team in the World Cup.
