Albares reveals results of his visit to Algeria

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain, José Manuel Albares, revealed on Friday the results of his two-day working visit to Algeria.

Albares wrote in a post on his account on the “X” platform: “I have concluded a symbolic and productive visit to Algeria. As a neighboring country, partner, and friend, we have strengthened cooperation, including in the economic fields and the gas and energy sector. Furthermore, the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation remains fully in force.”

Earlier today, the Spanish chief diplomat oversaw the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Spanish Cultural Center “Cervantes Institute” in Oran.

On the first day of his official visit, the Spanish official was received by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, at the El Mouradia Palace. Following this reception, he emphasized that Algeria is a strategic and reliable partner for Madrid, in addition to being a friendly country with which his country shares historical ties and a future in Africa and the Mediterranean.

Previously, the Presidency of the Republic revealed President Tebboune’s decision to reactivate the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation that has linked Algeria and Spain since October 2002.
