Start date for pension increases announced

Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Abdelhak Saihi, provided an important clarification regarding increases in retirement grants and pensions. Saihi explained, in his response to written question No. 10566 from MP Rabah Jidou, that this measure was motivated by the raising of the national minimum wage to 24,000 dinars, in implementation of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s decision, to include additional increases of up to 10%.

Regarding the percentage of increases in retirees’ pensions and grants, the Minister indicated that they amounted to 10 percent for retirees receiving a gross pension less than or equal to 20,000 dinars, and 5 percent for retirees receiving a gross pension of more than 20,000 dinars.

The Minister also confirmed that the value of retirement pensions and grants will be raised starting from May 1, 2026. Saihi added that the decision to raise the guaranteed national minimum wage constituted significant support for the worker segment, as well as groups that benefit from state support based on this wage.

The Minister added that raising the guaranteed national minimum wage contributed directly to raising minimum retirement pensions and grants. Consequently, the minimum pension amount rose from 20,000 dinars to 24,000 dinars, and the retirement grant amount from 15,000 dinars to 18,000 dinars.
