The President of the People’s National Assembly, Ibrahim Boughali, affirmed on Saturday that the Algerian experience is a leading humanitarian model in mine clearance.
In a statement issued on the occasion of the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, Boughali highlighted Algeria’s renewed commitment to continuing international efforts aimed at banning and criminalizing them.
Boughali recalled Algeria’s painful past left by colonial mines, noting the country’s leadership in advocating for the prohibition and criminalization of mines.
Boughali praised the People’s National Army’s success in removing millions of mines planted during the colonial era, clearing vast areas and transforming them into spaces for life.
The speaker also emphasized Algeria’s commitment to enhancing international awareness of the dangers of these weapons and pushing toward a world free of them.
