Gymnastics World Cup: Nemour Qualifies for Balance Beam Final

Algerian gymnast Kaylia Nemour qualified for the balance beam final during the fourth stage of the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. Nemour dominated the qualifiers with a score of 14.633, finishing ahead of China’s Qi Quinquin (14.066) and Qiu Qiyuan (13.700).

The 2024 Olympic champion had qualified on Friday for the uneven bars final with a score of 15.266, ahead of China’s Qiu Qiyuan (14.000) and Jiang Shuting (13.733). The uneven bars final is scheduled to take place this Sunday in Cairo, while the balance beam final will be held on Monday.

Kaylia Nemour is competing in this global event with high morale following her remarkable results in previous rounds of the world series. She previously won the gold medal on the uneven bars in Baku, Azerbaijan, with a total of 15.233 points, along with a silver on the balance beam. She also secured a silver medal on the same apparatus at the Cottbus round in Germany.

The Cairo stage of the World Cup series is a significant milestone for Algerian gymnasts, as it marks the final international competition before the start of the African Championships, scheduled to begin on April 21 in Cameroon.

The Cairo stage is part of the 2026 World Cup series, which the International Gymnastics Federation recently rescheduled following the cancellation of the Doha stage. In this exceptional context, only the three best results for each gymnast will be counted toward the final ranking for each apparatus.
