Algeria’s Interior Ministry Urges Parents to Stay Vigilant Near Water Zones This Summer

Algeria’s Ministry of Interior, Local Communities and Transport has issued an urgent appeal to all parents, calling for maximum vigilance and constant supervision of their children near water areas, particularly during the summer season.

The Ministry told dzwatch that spaces such as rivers, dams, and irrigation basins pose serious dangers to children’s safety due to their depth and the difficulty in assessing their risks.

Authorities urged parents to never leave children unsupervised near such areas, to strictly prohibit swimming in unauthorized or unprepared locations, and to actively raise their children’s awareness about the dangers these sites present.

The Ministry emphasized that proactive parental involvement remains the most effective safeguard against tragic drowning incidents during the warmer months.
