Algeria Opens Proxy Voting Registration Ahead of National Assembly Elections

Algeria’s Independent National Electoral Authority has announced that registered voters belonging to specific categories may begin preparing proxy voting authorizations starting April 20, 2026, through June 28, 2026, ahead of the upcoming National People’s Assembly elections.

According to exclusive details obtained by dzwatch, the following categories are eligible:

  • Hospitalized patients: Proxy prepared before the hospital director.
  • Home-bound patients or severely disabled citizens: Officials will visit them at home.
  • Workers, employees, or students outside their home province: Proxy prepared before the local municipal electoral commission.
  • Citizens temporarily or permanently abroad: Proxy prepared through Algerian consular services.
  • Military, security, civil protection, customs, and prison staff on duty: Proxy prepared before their unit commander or facility director.

Proxy voting forms are available at the Authority’s provincial coordinator offices or Algerian diplomatic and consular missions abroad.
