India’s Ambassador Hails Algeria as Strategic Gateway to Africa and Europe

India’s Ambassador to Algeria, Swati Vijay Kulkarni, has praised the depth and quality of the Algerian-Indian partnership, highlighting Algeria’s pivotal role within the broader India-Africa cooperation framework.

Speaking exclusively to dzwatch on the sidelines of a briefing dedicated to the Fourth India-Africa Forum Summit — scheduled in New Delhi from May 28 to 31 — the ambassador declared: “Algeria is a key partner for us, both within the African Union and the Global South. It serves as a gateway to Africa and Europe.”

Kulkarni urged Indian businesses to invest in Algeria and forge solid partnerships with Algerian enterprises, citing the country’s favorable business climate. She noted that 250 out of 650 active pharmaceutical units across Africa are based in Algeria.

The summit, themed “Spirit of AI: India-Africa Strategic Partnership for Innovation, Resilience and Inclusive Transformation,” will conclude with the “New Delhi Declaration”, outlining key cooperation priorities. An Algerian delegation is expected to participate in accompanying cultural and artistic events.
