The aircraft carrying Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune landed Wednesday evening at Esenboğa International Airport in the Turkish capital, Ankara, according to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic.
President Tebboune was received upon his arrival by his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who extended an official welcome to the Algerian head of state at the airport.
The two presidents subsequently held a one-on-one meeting in the presidential lounge of Esenboğa International Airport.
President Tebboune’s visit to Turkey is an official state visit aimed at strengthening fraternal ties and broadening cooperation between the two countries across all sectors.
During the visit, President Tebboune is scheduled to co-chair with President Erdoğan the inaugural session of the Algerian-Turkish High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.
Relations between Algeria and Turkey have gained considerable momentum in recent years, marked by intensified political dialogue and deepened partnerships in numerous fields, driven by a shared and firm determination on the part of both countries’ leaders to elevate bilateral cooperation to new horizons.
This visit follows President Tebboune’s state visit to Turkey in May 2022, which marked a new milestone in the history of relations between the two nations.
