Angola-Algeria Partnership: A Powerhouse for African Development

Angolan President João Lourenço reaffirmed Monday that Algeria and Angola hold tremendous potential to drive Africa’s development, particularly in energy, industry, and infrastructure.

In an exclusive statement to dzwatch during his state visit to Algiers, President Lourenço declared: “We are committed to exploring every opportunity both nations possess — without exception — because Angola and Algeria have the capacity to contribute massively not only to their own development but to our entire African continent, especially in energy, industry, and infrastructure.”

The Angolan leader highlighted that the core purpose of his Algiers visit is to strengthen bonds of friendship and cooperation between two peoples sharing a common history of struggle and victory against colonialism.

He further stressed that the shared resistance of both nations “was not only against European colonialism, but also against the underdevelopment that colonialism left behind.”

The visit marks a significant milestone in South-South cooperation, with Algeria positioning itself as a key pillar of African economic sovereignty.
