Algeria Boosts Unemployment Fund: Minister Orders Service Quality Overhaul and Job Creation Drive

Algeria’s Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Abdelhaق Sayhi, has directed the National Unemployment Insurance Fund to urgently upgrade service quality, bring administration closer to citizens, and strengthen support for economic institutions and employers.

Chairing a high-level evaluation meeting at the ministry headquarters, Sayhi received an exclusive briefing from the Fund’s Director-General covering key performance indicators and results achieved through April 2026, alongside progress on directives issued during previous sessions.

Priority focus was placed on digitising management mechanisms, improving public service delivery, activating incentive measures to boost employment, and supporting the creation of new economic activities — all aimed at generating jobs and driving productive investment to elevate the national economy.

The minister made clear that modernising the Fund’s operational framework is non-negotiable, ordering concrete steps to ensure Algerian citizens receive faster, higher-quality social protection services as the government accelerates its employment promotion strategy ahead of mid-2026 targets.
