Algeria Accelerates Eastern Mining Railway Project: Minister Orders Night Shifts and Tighter Deadlines

Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Abdelkader Djellaoui chaired a high-level working session this Saturday to assess progress on the Eastern Mining Railway Line, specifically the 121-km section linking Bouchegouf and Drâa.

The session brought together senior ministry officials alongside executives from national agencies ANESRIF and SNTP, as well as representatives of Chinese contractors CRBC and CCCC.

The project is divided into two segments: Bouchegouf–Aïn Senour (72 km) and Aïn Senour–Drâa (49 km). Detailed progress reports were presented for all active worksites.

The Minister issued firm directives to mobilize additional resources, extend working hours into the night, and strictly honor all contractual obligations. A field visit is scheduled within days to personally verify progress on the ground.

Djellaoui also recalled President Tebboune’s motivational message to all stakeholders, underlining the project’s strategic importance in strengthening national infrastructure, rail connectivity, and mineral resource development.
