Algerian security forces have dealt a major blow to an organized drug trafficking network operating along the Moroccan border, seizing over 214 kilograms of processed cannabis and confiscating six drones used to facilitate the smuggling operation.
Specialized counter-narcotics units based in Tlemcen conducted the operation following precise intelligence work and coordination with security partners. Investigators identified and intercepted a vehicle transporting the contraband, recovering approximately 71kg of cannabis and one drone on the spot.
A subsequent raid on a stable in the area uncovered an additional 143kg of the drug buried and camouflaged underground, along with five more drones. Two suspects linked to the criminal network were arrested and referred to the competent prosecutor’s office.
The total haul included over 214kg of processed cannabis, six drones, and a private vehicle used to transport the narcotics — all originating from Morocco.
