The political landscape for Algeria’s upcoming People’s National Assembly elections is gradually crystallizing as the Independent National Electoral Authority releases preliminary candidate list figures, offering the first real indicator of party mobilization capacity across the country’s electoral districts.
The Authority exclusively confirmed to dzwatch that a total of 788 candidate files were submitted before the legal deadline, including 649 files sponsored by 32 political parties, one file jointly sponsored by multiple parties, and 138 files listed as independent lists from within the country.
For overseas electoral districts, 66 files were deposited in total — 59 under the sponsorship of 18 political parties, one multi-party coalition file, and 6 independent lists.
Political analysts told dzwatch that the distribution of candidate lists across provinces signals that established political formations have reclaimed significant ground in the electoral arena compared to previous cycles, reflecting growing institutional confidence in Algeria’s democratic process.
