Red Crescent Dispatches Solidarity Aid to Wildfire-Hit Jijel

The Algerian Red Crescent (ARC) has launched a solidarity caravan destined for Jijel, providing essential aid and equipment to families impacted by wildfires. This initiative aligns with the ARC's ongoing commitment to support national efforts aimed at mitigating the effects of forest fires. The caravan was dispatched in response to specific needs identified on the ground, ensuring targeted assistance reaches those most affected.

Among the provisions are water tanks equipped with pumps and cooking stoves, which are crucial for families whose needs were assessed by the local ARC office in Jijel. Furthermore, to support children during the social return period, the caravan includes 2,000 equipped school bags and school aprons for students in the affected regions. This comprehensive mobilization of human and logistical resources by the ARC aims to provide fundamental school necessities and assist families during this challenging phase, with teams coordinating transport and distribution to ensure optimal delivery.

These efforts by the Algerian Red Crescent complement the ongoing governmental actions to address the wildfire aftermath. Walis (governors) across the affected provinces continue their field visits to assess damages, acting on instructions from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to provide care and compensation to victims. These visits, guided by directives from the Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, involve overseeing damage assessment committees and engaging with affected citizens to promptly address their concerns and ensure thorough follow-up on aid operations.
