Speaking from the holy sites, Belmehdi, who also heads the Algerian Hajj Mission, emphasized that Algerian pilgrims showcased noble character, cooperation, and a positive spirit, thereby representing Algeria with distinction in the sacred lands. He particularly praised the prevailing spirit of solidarity among pilgrims, noting the profound expressions of mutual support and care. The minister described the Hajj journey as a spiritual school, imparting values and ethics that positively influence the pilgrim's family, community, and homeland upon their return.
Regarding the health of the pilgrims, Belmehdi assured that the general condition is reassuring. A limited number of health cases are receiving diligent follow-up from Algerian medical teams in coordination with Saudi hospitals. The mission is actively monitoring patients, ensuring their return to Algeria on the earliest flights post-medical clearance, with all necessary arrangements made for their safe reunion with families. Departure flights from Jeddah are scheduled to commence on Sunday, with return journeys continuing until June 21.
Looking ahead to the next Hajj season, Belmehdi announced that preparations will begin early according to a well-defined schedule. He acknowledged the significant support from the Algerian state, under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which includes easing financial burdens, expanding departure airports, providing transportation for pilgrims from remote areas, and ensuring comprehensive health, accommodation, and administrative support services.
