The Arab Group at the United Nations on Thursday evening urged the international community to adopt decisive resolutions concerning the violations perpetrated by Israeli occupation forces in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Israeli violations in Palestine
In a statement delivered by the Saudi envoy to the UN, Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, during a press conference at the UN Security Council headquarters, the group emphasized its rejection of all measures aimed at altering the status of the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem. The statement accused the Israeli entity of reinforcing settlements and eroding Palestinian rights.
The declaration also warned against Israeli attempts to escalate the situation in the Gaza Strip, stressing the rejection of any displacement or forced relocation of Palestinians by the occupation.
It called for "decisive resolutions" regarding the Israeli occupation's transgressions in the occupied Palestinian lands.
The ongoing genocidal war, initiated by Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, continues despite ceasefire agreements. The conflict has resulted in over 246,000 casualties, including martyrs and wounded—predominantly children and women—along with more than 11,000 missing persons. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, leading to widespread famine that has claimed many lives, particularly among children, and caused comprehensive destruction across most of the Strip's cities.
On Wednesday, Israel approved the construction of 2,162 settlement units in several settlements across the occupied West Bank. Palestinians view these projects as part of an accelerating Israeli policy to expand settlements, confiscate Palestinian land, and impose new realities on the ground. The international community considers settlements in occupied territories illegal under international law and an obstacle to the two-state solution.
