Algeria Unveils National Framework for Health Equipment to Enhance Healthcare Standards

Algeria's Ministry of Health has officially launched the National Reference Framework for Health Equipment (RNES), a pioneering national regulatory document designed to standardize essential medical devices across all healthcare facilities. This initiative aims to bolster the governance of the national health system and optimize investments in medical equipment.

Algeria National Health Equipment Framework

The RNES establishes the foundational norms for medical equipment required in various healthcare institutions, aligning with defined care levels and approved medical and surgical specialties. Its implementation is intended to harmonize national standards for equipping health structures and ensure a rational, equitable distribution of medical devices. This strategic approach seeks to meet the genuine health needs of citizens while accommodating the specificities and demands of the Algerian healthcare system.

Developed using a scientific methodology, the RNES incorporates recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO) and adheres to international best practices. These global standards have been adapted to Algeria's national context, considering crucial parameters such as the epidemiological situation, the availability of human resources, maintenance capabilities, and access to medical consumables.
