Annaba Mediterranean Film Festival: Palestinian Short Film “Sukraniya 59” Moves the AudienceThe Palestinian short film “Sukraniya 59” showcased at the Annaba Cinematheque this Friday, stirred deep emotions among attendees at the fourth edition of the Annaba Mediterranean Film Festival.

Directed by Abdullah Al-Khatib, the film poignantly narrates the shared hardships of two refugee families from different nationalities living in a German city, bound only by the “bitterness of displacement” and the ravages of war. “Sukraniya 59” captures in just 21 minutes how crises can bridge human differences, providing a sense of solace despite the brutality of war and the pain of separation from their homelands.

The festival also highlighted other significant contributions, such as the Spanish short film “Cinema is Wonderful” by David Fernandez. This 13-minute film explores the enchanting journey of a father and his children, capturing the audience with its evocative and moving scenes.

Moreover, the Algerian short film “Night of Abed” by Anis Djaad, which unfolds over 12 minutes in an Algerian village, intrigued viewers with its mysterious tale of a man and his wife awaiting the birth of their child.

The fourth edition of the Annaba Mediterranean Film Festival features 18 short films competing on various humanitarian and social themes, showcasing the diverse cinematic talents that address pressing global issues.
