United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has welcomed the announcement of a peace agreement between the United States and Iran aimed at halting military operations in the Gulf and Middle East region.

"This agreement represents a crucial step towards resolving the conflict through peaceful means," stated UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric in a press release following the announcement.
The statement further added, "The Secretary-General hopes that the parties will build on this new momentum and redouble their efforts to reach a final resolution to the dispute."
Guterres emphasized that the United Nations stands ready to support the parties in achieving lasting and comprehensive peace.
