Algeria's Republic's Mediator, Mohamed Hettab, announced that his office has received over 1.37 million complaints and petitions since its inception. This extensive caseload, totaling 1,376,365 grievances, has provided crucial insights into the primary concerns of citizens across various sectors and regions. In the first half of 2026 alone, the Mediator's office processed no fewer than 13,649 petitions. The office successfully resolved over 6,000 of these cases through engagement with the relevant governmental departments. Hettab emphasized the ongoing commitment to improving public service quality and fostering trust between citizens and administration, aligning with the President's directives for a modern, efficient, and responsive public sector.

Speaking on the program "Forum Al Oula" on Radio Al Oula, Hettab highlighted the integration of digitalization and field visits into the Mediator's operations. These initiatives aim to enhance direct engagement with citizens, assess local development conditions firsthand, and streamline the process of addressing citizen concerns. The Mediator stressed the President's directive to prioritize citizen service, viewing it as a non-negotiable duty that the Mediator's office actively implements in coordination with public authorities.

Recent field visits, including those to In Guezzam and other southern regions, were undertaken to ensure that public services offered in these areas match the quality provided in the northern regions. Hettab also lauded President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's reactivation of the complaint registry, a unified system across all administrative bodies. This digitized registry allows citizens to submit grievances to local and central authorities without the need for physical travel.

The Algerian state, under President Tebboune, places significant importance on modern administration and digitalization. The inclusion of the National Digital Services Portal on the Council of Ministers' agenda further underscores this commitment. Hettab stated that this progression will further enable the Republic's Mediator's office to handle citizen concerns efficiently, transparently, and equitably.
