Pharmaceutical Industry Minister Meets CAP Delegation to Support Medical Supplies Production
Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry Wassim Kouidri received on Monday at the ministry’s headquarters a delegation from the Algerian Confederation of Employers, known as CAP, led by its president, Tahar Bouzid.
The meeting focused on the main concerns raised by companies operating in the medical supplies sector and provided an opportunity to examine the challenges affecting their activities.
Discussions also addressed practical ways to develop the sector and strengthen the contribution of local companies to Algeria’s national strategy for establishing a domestic medical supplies industry. This policy aims to increase local production, meet the needs of the national market and reduce dependence on imported products.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the conditions required to encourage investment, improve the business environment and support companies involved in manufacturing medical equipment and supplies.
Kouidri stressed the importance of adopting a participatory approach based on permanent dialogue and consultation with economic operators active in the pharmaceutical industry. He said cooperation between public authorities and private-sector stakeholders is essential to identifying obstacles, developing suitable solutions and ensuring the successful implementation of the sector’s national objectives.
The minister reaffirmed his department’s commitment to supporting productive investment and creating favorable conditions for the expansion of local pharmaceutical and medical supplies manufacturing.
He also highlighted the need to improve the availability of medicines and medical products while ensuring that domestic production meets quality and safety requirements.
According to the minister, developing a strong national pharmaceutical industry will contribute directly to reinforcing Algeria’s health sovereignty. It will also help secure the supply of essential medical products, support economic growth and create new opportunities for national companies.
The meeting reflected the ministry’s determination to maintain close coordination with employers’ organizations and other economic partners in order to build a competitive, sustainable and reliable pharmaceutical industry capable of meeting Algeria’s healthcare needs.
