Arab Parliament President Congratulates Khalida Boufadache on Historic Election

President of the Arab Parliament Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi congratulated Khalida Boufadache on Wednesday following her election as Speaker of Algeria’s National People’s Assembly.

In a statement, Al Yamahi wished Boufadache success in carrying out her responsibilities and leading the lower house of Parliament during the coming period in a manner that meets the aspirations of the Algerian people.

He said her election to the senior position reflected the strong confidence placed in her by the members of the National People’s Assembly. He also highlighted her competence, experience, and ability to lead the legislative institution and strengthen its role in serving the interests of both the country and its citizens.

According to Al Yamahi, Boufadache’s leadership could contribute to supporting Algeria’s development and stability by reinforcing the effectiveness of parliamentary work and the institution’s role in public life.

The Arab Parliament President also described her election as the first woman to head Algeria’s National People’s Assembly as a historic milestone and a major national achievement.

He said the development reflected the advanced position reached by Algerian women and demonstrated the growing role of Arab women in political and parliamentary life.

Al Yamahi added that the successes achieved by women across the Arab world had qualified them to assume some of the highest leadership positions. Such progress, he said, strengthens efforts to empower women and consolidate their presence in decision-making institutions throughout the region.

Boufadache’s election marks a significant moment in Algeria’s parliamentary history and highlights the expanding participation of women in senior political responsibilities. It also reflects broader regional efforts to promote women’s representation in public institutions and leadership positions across the Arab world.
