Algiers – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed the unwavering political will to build a strong, democratic, and socially robust state, honoring the sacrifices of martyrs and fulfilling the aspirations of the Algerian people.

In his meeting with citizens and dignitaries of Khenchela during his visit to the wilaya last Thursday, detailed in a documentary broadcasted on national television and radio channels on Sunday evening, the President stated, “We will build a strong, democratic, and social state that embodies the principle of consultation and ensures the fair distribution of the country’s wealth among the people.”

President Tebboune highlighted the key factors that currently strengthen the Algerian state, namely “the cohesion of the internal front and the unity of the Algerian people’s voice,” along with “the continuous growth of the national economy and the strength of the People’s National Army.” These factors, he noted, have positively impacted Algeria’s diplomatic effectiveness and steadfast positions in supporting just causes, primarily the Palestinian and Sahrawi issues, while assuming the responsibilities that come with such stances.

In this context, the President emphasized that “true democracy starts with elected councils,” underscoring the need to “scientifically and thoroughly review the administrative division and avoid arbitrary changes, as well as revise the laws governing municipalities and wilayas to grant wider powers to municipal and wilaya council presidents and reconsider the financial capabilities of municipalities.”

Moreover, President Tebboune expressed a “strong political will to continue economic reforms until the Algerian economy ranks first or second in Africa, building a robust economy that ensures citizens’ well-being.”

He added that the desired development is one that “achieves equality across all regions of the country, primarily relying on national investment.” He revealed that national investment requests are “increasing continuously, exceeding 7,000 requests.”

The President confirmed that “the new economic approach in the field of investment defines the state’s roles in monitoring, assisting, encouraging, and covering all service sectors,” pointing out that “significant files are awaiting processing and major reforms will be undertaken to enhance the state’s strength.”

In response to the concerns and proposals of Khenchela’s dignitaries and citizens, President Tebboune assured that the supplementary development program granted to the wilaya would “alleviate hardships and end its isolation.”

He promised to implement most of the proposals raised by the wilaya’s residents, noting that they “align with the public authorities’ efforts to promote development in the wilaya, provided that these projects undergo thorough feasibility studies.”

On this basis, the President committed to reconsidering electricity tariffs and gave his preliminary approval for the construction of several dams in the region, in addition to establishing a university branch for medical studies in the upcoming academic year.

In the sports sector, President Tebboune pledged to support the US Khenchela football team by facilitating its contract with a sponsoring company, wishing the team success in the upcoming season.
