The National Economic, Social, and Environmental Council to Soon Present an Environmental Report to the President

Algiers – The President of the National Economic, Social, and Environmental Council, Rabia Kherfi, announced on Wednesday in Algiers that the council will soon present a new report dedicated to the environment in Algeria to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Kherfi made this statement on the sidelines of a national conference on “The Environmental Challenges and Issues of Algeria: A Comprehensive Approach from the Desert to the Coast,” organized by the National Institute for Comprehensive Strategic Studies in collaboration with the National School of Marine Sciences and Coastal Planning, in celebration of World Environment Day on June 5th.

The President of the Council highlighted that this forward-looking report on environmental challenges, which will be delivered to the President, primarily focuses on the development of the green economy, hydrogen, waste management, and recycling.

She also indicated that the report has taken into account previous reports prepared by the council by providing a summary of all past achievements along with a forward-looking perspective on the challenges and issues for the coming years.

Kherfi emphasized the importance President Tebboune places on environmental issues in his program, considering it “comprehensive and having a direct impact on the level and quality of economic growth, sustainability, and the social dimension of the country.”

She reiterated that the council aims to shed light on and evaluate environmental issues according to the provisions of the 2020 Constitution. Kherfi also pointed out the significance of the national conference initiated by the National Institute for Comprehensive Strategic Studies in collaboration with the National School of Marine Sciences and Coastal Planning, addressing the environmental challenges and issues of Algeria.
