Amateur Theater Festival: Al-Mawja from Mostaganem and Al-Shoula from Boumerdes Win First Prize

Mostaganem – Al-Mawja Association from Mostaganem and Al-Shoula Association from Boumerdes won the first prize of the National Amateur Theater Festival held in Mostaganem from June 2 to 7.

The Al-Mawja Cultural Association won the first “Mohamed Ben Mohamed” prize jointly with the Al-Shoula Association for Theater and Cinema. They participated with the theatrical works “It’s You and Me” directed by Laroussi Belhayan Ismail and “The Network” directed by Abdelghani Chentouf, respectively.

The third prize of the festival was awarded to the play “The Cemetery” directed by Atef Karim and the association Creators Without Borders from Annaba, which also won the Best Integrated Performance award in category B.

In the individual awards, the Best Supporting Actress award went to Sabrina Younsi for her role in the play Jugurtha by the cultural association Nithri Imzaghn from Tizi Ouzou. The Best Supporting Actor award went to Ahmed Bechar from the Al-Shoula Association of Boumerdes.

Actress Amina Berkan from the same association (Al-Shoula from Boumerdes) won the Best Actress award, while actor Atef Karim from Creators Without Borders won the Best Actor award.

The Al-Qawla Association’s play “Night Secrets” directed by Abed Boukhebza won the Jury Prize, chaired by director Hamida Ait El-Haj.

In category B, in addition to the play winning the Best Integrated Performance award and qualifying for the competition in category B, the Hiama Rekh Cultural Association from Chlef won the Jury Prize for its play “Al-Fabrika” directed by Tabache Abdelwahab.

The other five individual awards went to the play Targit (The Dream) by Amazdai Adlessan Inelmadin from Bejaia (Best Scenography) and to Daoud Aya and Tahkout Sarah jointly (Best Female Performance) for their roles in the play “Who is the Ruler” by the Cultural Association of Theater Pioneers from Relizane and the play Targit.

Actor Abdelkader Aishouba from the Hiama Rekh Cultural Association (Chlef) and actor Rami Nably from the Cultural Action Cooperative (Guelma) jointly won the Best Actor award.

Director Belkacem Kaouan won the Best Director award for the play Targit, while playwright Issa Moulfarraa won the Best Playwright award for the play “Nadra and Rami” by the Johara Theater and Arts Cultural Association from Ain Temouchent.

During the closing ceremony, held at the Mustaland Amusement Park, theater and film artist Djilali Boujemaa was honored for his contributions to the national theater movement. The Sahrawi and Palestinian theater troupes were the guests of honor at the 55th edition of the National Amateur Theater Festival.
