Justice Minister Orders “Extreme Firmness” Against Grave Crimes

Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Lotfi Boujemaa, has urged the implementation of "extreme firmness" in confronting specific types of serious crimes. This directive was issued during a working meeting that brought together the heads of judicial councils and public prosecutors overseeing the specialized criminal judicial poles in Algiers, Oran, Constantine, and Ouargla.

A statement from the Ministry of Justice clarified that the order primarily targets grave offenses. These include serious crimes related to drugs and psychotropic substances of all categories, alongside organized crime, smuggling, speculation, corruption, currency exchange offenses, capital movement crimes, and terrorism.

During the meeting, Minister Boujemaa issued several practical directives aimed at developing judicial working methods and enhancing coordination among various stakeholders in the field, particularly the diverse judicial police services. He further ordered the mobilization of all available capabilities, means, and legal tools to ensure the protection of public order and general security, and to uphold rights and freedoms.
