Egypt Reports 29 Percent Rise in Food Sales to Algeria

Algeria was ranked as the eighth largest market for Egyptian food product exports during the first seven months of 2026. Data from the Egyptian State Information Service (SIS), published in a communiqué on August 30, indicates a significant 29% increase in Algerian imports of these products compared to the same period in 2025. This growth represents a rise of $36 million in purchases.
Between January and July 2026, Algerian purchases of Egyptian food products reached $159 million. This figure positioned Algeria as a key destination, accounting for nearly 4% of Egypt's total external outlets for its food industry. The substantial volume underscores Algeria's import capacity and its active role in regional trade.
Egypt's overall food exports during the initial seven months of 2026 totaled $4.47 billion, with the top fifteen markets comprising approximately 60% of this value, reaching $2.67 billion. Algeria's consistent position within the top ten demonstrates its importance as a stable and growing market for agricultural and processed food goods in the wider region.
