Batna Paracetamol Plant Reaches 75% Completion for Pharmaceutical Sovereignty

Algeria is progressing towards strategic autonomy within its health sector, marked by a significant milestone in the paracetamol raw material production project situated in the wilaya of Batna. The public pharmaceutical group Saidal recently confirmed that the overall realization rate for the facility has reached 75%, indicating a decisive step forward. All essential advanced equipment required to commence production has already been received on-site, signaling an imminent operational launch.

Younes Bouarara, Director General of Saidal, conducted an inspection visit to the Batna site, where he assessed the ongoing progress of the work. During his visit, Mr. Bouarara convened a working session with company executives, design offices, and representatives from the construction companies. This meeting aimed to concretely evaluate and resolve any remaining logistical and technical challenges, with an emphasis on developing immediate operational solutions. The Director General underscored the critical need to unify efforts and intensify daily oversight of the construction to ensure the strategic infrastructure's timely delivery.

This upcoming production unit holds central importance to the fundamental directives issued by Algeria's highest authorities. By mastering the local synthesis of active ingredients—a component historically reliant on imports—the nation intends to safeguard its healthcare system from the volatilities and pressures of global markets.
